Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: August 6, 2026

1. Cancelling or rescheduling a lesson

  • 24 hours or more before the lesson: cancel or reschedule at no charge. If you've already paid, you'll receive a refund or credit toward a future lesson, your choice.
  • Less than 24 hours before the lesson: the lesson is charged in full and is not automatically refunded, since the time was held for you and couldn't be offered to another student.
  • No-shows (you don't attend and didn't cancel) are treated the same as a late cancellation — charged in full.
  • Late-cancelled in-home lessons are charged at the studio rate, not the in-home rate. The in-home price covers travel that Wes doesn't make when the lesson is cancelled in advance, and it would not be right to charge you for it. The charge is meant to cover a teaching hour that was held for you and couldn't be filled — nothing more. If Wes has already travelled to your home — a no-show where nobody told him not to come — the full in-home rate applies, because the journey actually happened.
  • To cancel or reschedule, contact us at info@i-wanna-rock.com or (707) 273-3345 as soon as you know.
  • Group classes can also be dropped yourself, from the “My classes” panel in your account. Important: that button removes your place immediately and does not currently check the 24-hour window or calculate a charge for you. Dropping a session less than 24 hours before it starts still leaves the charge payable under this policy, even though the screen will not say so. If you are inside the 24-hour window, please contact us rather than relying on the button.
  • Private one-to-one lessons cannot yet be cancelled from the account panel — please contact us for those.

Wes may waive the late-cancellation charge at his discretion for genuine emergencies (illness, family emergency, etc.) — just reach out and explain. A sick student is exactly this case, and we would always rather you kept a child home than brought them in to avoid a fee — see the Studio Policy.

For a student under 18, the parent or legal guardian on the account is responsible for cancelling or rescheduling, and for any charge that results. We will not treat a message from the student alone as a cancellation.

2. Group classes

Group class sessions follow the same 24-hour notice window. Because classes are billed per session date you book, dropping a specific date more than 24 hours ahead removes that charge; dropping a class entirely more than 24 hours before its next session stops future billing but does not retroactively refund sessions already attended or already inside the 24-hour window.

3. Refunds — how they're processed

  • PayPal payments: refunded back to your original PayPal payment method. PayPal refunds are processed manually by staff (there is currently no self-service "request a refund" button) — contact us and we'll issue it from our PayPal Business account. PayPal's own processing fee on the original transaction may not be returned to us by PayPal, and depending on timing we may deduct that non-refundable fee from a refund at our discretion. We will never deduct it when Wes is the one who cancelled, when you cancelled with 24 hours' notice or more, when you are refunding unused prepaid credits, or when you are exercising the three-day right in §6 — in all of those cases “a full refund” and “no charge” mean exactly that, and the fee is ours to absorb. In practice that leaves almost nothing: we would rather wear a couple of dollars than nickel-and-dime someone getting a refund.
  • Venmo payments: refunded via a Venmo transfer back to you from Wes's Venmo account, arranged manually — contact us to request it.
  • Cash or check: refunded by check or an agreed alternative.
  • Refunds are typically issued within 5–10 business days of approval.

4. Prepaid lesson packages / credits

Prepaid lesson credits never expire. There is no deadline to use them, no dormancy or inactivity fee, and no point at which unused credits are forfeited. A credit is a lesson you have already paid for, and it stays yours until you take it or ask for it back. Credits are counted in lessons, not in dollars, so a credit remains good for one lesson even if lesson prices change later.

Unused prepaid lesson credits are refundable on request, minus the value of any lessons already used (used lessons are valued at the regular single-lesson rate, not a bundle-discounted rate, if the package included a discount for buying in bulk).

Packages are arranged with Wes directly rather than bought through the website.

5. Instructor-initiated cancellations

If Wes needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson (illness, emergency, weather, etc.), you will be notified as soon as possible and offered a full refund or a rescheduled time at no charge — your choice.

6. If you sign up during a visit to your home — your three-day right to cancel

California gives you a cancellation right when you agree to buy services worth $25 or more somewhere other than the seller's own premises — including in your own home. Courses of instruction are expressly covered.

So: if you agree to lessons, or to a lesson package, while Wes is at your home — rather than booking through this website, over the phone, or at the studio — you may cancel that agreement until midnight on the third business day afterwards, and get your money back in full. If you are 65 or older, you have until midnight on the fifth business day. You do not need a reason. Tell us in writing — email to info@i-wanna-rock.com is fine, and so is a letter to the postal address we give you on the cancellation notice at the time you sign.

Where this right applies we will give you a written notice of it, in duplicate, at the time you sign.

Booking in person at the studio is not covered, because the studio is our own business premises. For bookings made through this website or over the phone, we do not treat this right as applying — but we are not going to argue the point with you: if you think it should apply to your booking, tell us within three business days and we will honour the cancellation and refund you in full.

Where this three-day right applies it overrides the 24-hour rule in §1 — you get your money back in full even if the lesson was less than 24 hours away, and even if it has already happened. No approval is needed, no fee of any kind is deducted, and we will refund you promptly rather than on the 5–10 business day timetable in §3. Everything else in this policy still applies as normal.

7. Questions

If anything about a charge looks wrong, or you want to discuss a specific situation, just reach out — info@i-wanna-rock.com or (707) 273-3345. This policy is meant to be fair, not rigid.
